The Blandin Foundation in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, has announced forty-nine grants totaling $4.3 million to nonprofit organizations working to strengthen rural communities in Minnesota.
The June awards include twenty-three grants totaling $3.1 million to nonprofits in Grand Rapids and Itasca County. Recipients include the Itasca Area Schools Collaborative, which was awarded nearly $2 million in continuing support for its Invest Early program.
Other recipients include the Boys and Girls Club of the Leech Lake Area, which will receive $135,000 over two years in support of its Deer River Unit; Baby Steps Boutique, which was awarded $165,000 over two years to provide newborn and childcare items needed by new and expectant parents; the Reif Arts Council, which was awarded $340,000 over two years to provide a diverse mix of performing and visual arts in the Reif community; and the Northland Area Family Center, which will receive $180,000 over two years in support of its Northland Early Childhood Collaborative, which provides high-quality affordable early childhood programs and services for preschool-eligible children.
